    During January and February 2016, members of the Healthwatch Barnet End of Life Care Group visited six hospices in North and East London, and Hertfordshire, to carry out face-to face interviews and find out about current practices in EoLC and palliative care.

    Healthwatch Barnet sought the views of people using homecare services and their relatives/carers, including those who use council services, and those who pay for their care privately. Over 40 responses were received.

    This was an announced E&V visit as part of a planned set of visits to look at a range of care provision within Barnet to obtain a better idea of the quality of care provided. Speedwell House is a Sheltered Housing Plus unit, which provides for tenants who have been designated by Barnet Social Services as needing day and night care.

    On Wednesday 14th June 2017 we celebrated volunteer's week with a celebratory lunch to thank all the hard work our volunteers have contributed throughout the year. We also had a guest speaker from Argenti Telecare Service who provide healthcare technology.

This followed receipt of a number of comments from patients over a period of time that clinics were overcrowded, with some patients forced to stand and that the waiting time at clinics was excessive.
