Hadley Lawns Care Home - Enter and View
Our authorised representatives visited the home, and made a series of recommendations. Hadley Lawns provides care for people aged over 65 years, and can also accommodate adults below this age who require residential, nursing, convalescent or palliative care.
The residents and relatives we spoke with described the home as having a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and we were given examples of staff going the ‘extra mile’, for example by arranging cakes and entertainers. We found evidence of a number of improvements over the last year, including reduced use of agency staff, reduced incidence of pressure sores and a recent increase in the number of activities available for residents.
Our recommendations, and the home’s responses, are set out on p5-6. We are pleased to report that the home has been working on implementing a number of our recommendations, including: providing a wider range of activities for residents; increasing the accessibility of menus and table layouts for visually impaired residents and people in wheelchairs; and using a heated trolley to ensure meals are served hot.
Some interviewees raised concerns about inconsistencies in hygiene, personal and clinical care. In their response, the home advised that they have reintroduced labelling of all cleaned equipment with tags stating the date, time and which staff cleaned the equipment, which is a positive step.
