September 2019 Newsletter
We were dismayed to hear that some of our Barnet residents weren’t aware of and weren’t being offered a language interpreter at the GP. This meant that many didn’t fully understand what the GP said.
Key updates from the newsletter:
- Thanks to our report the BCCG has committed to providing more training and guidance for GP staff and more publicity about the interpreting services provided by Languagline
- Speaking to 578 patients attending the A&E at Barnet Hospital and The Royal Free Hospital gave us an insight into what they knew of other services, such as NHS 111, Walk In Centres and GP’s additional appointments and why they were referred or chose to go to A+E.
-
The possible relocation of Ravenscroft Medical Centre to Finchley Memorial Hospital was discussed at the consultation run by the BCCG with many Healthwatch volunteers and staff attending and giving feedback and recommendations.
-
We've published our annual report for 2018 - 2019. Find out what we have accomplished during the year and how your feedback has helped to shape health and social care in Barnet.
The Care Quality Commision has the #DeclareYourCare campaign focusing on people from a Black and ethnic minority (BME) background. It highlights how people from a BME background are less likely than those from a non-BME background to raise concerns about the standard of care they receive, especially mental health care.
